SEEKING VOLUNTEERS FOR OUTDOOR CLASSROOM DESIGN COMMITTEE
Call for Volunteers: Outdoor Classroom Design Committee
The Garrison Union Free School District is excited to begin the next phase of planning for an immersive outdoor educational learning space, taking full advantage of our pristine 181-acre school forest. With funding approved for initial architectural design concepts, we are forming a committee to help guide the design process for consideration in the 2026–2027 school budget.
We are seeking volunteers to serve on the Outdoor Classroom Design Committee, which will be led by our architect and include:
Up to 3 Board of Education members
Up to 6 staff members
Up to 3 students
Up to 3 community members
The committee will meet three times at the Garrison School from 4:30–5:30 PM on the following dates:
Monday, October 14
Tuesday, November 19
Tuesday, December 9
In addition, we will offer an optional site visit to the forest location before the first official meeting. The optional site visit will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 4:30 PM. To schedule your visit and obtain additional details, please email Dusti Callo at dcallo@gufs.org. Please note that if no one RSVPs, the site visit will be cancelled.
If you are interested in serving on the committee, please email Dusti Callo, District Clerk at dcallo@gufs.org and include a brief statement explaining why you would like to be part of this committee.
Please note:
Representation is limited by category (staff, community member, student).
All submissions must be received no later than the close of business on Friday, October 3, 2025.
We look forward to collaborating with our community to envision a vibrant outdoor learning environment for our students!
