During a two-year period that began in 2017, members of the Garrison School administration, staff members, community members, and Board of Education members carefully reviewed the improvement needs of the Garrison Union Free School District facilities. Through an exhaustive process of evaluating the most critical areas of improvement needed, a capital project proposal was presented to the community. The scope of work included a partial roof replacement, upgrade of finishes, bathroom renovations, upgrade of the fire detection system, reconfiguring of the courtyard exit, heating system replacement, plumbing upgrades, lighting replacement, playground, library and art room improvements, gymnasium sound and lighting systems, school security and surveillance systems, new phone system, and ADA accessibility improvements.
A Capital Project Referendum was put before the voters of the Garrison community on September 24, 2019. The voters approved the referendum for a total of $9,912,540.00. Work on the capital project is scheduled to begin during the summer of 2021 and anticipated to come to completion during the fall of 2022.
